Foreign Worker Authentication System
The team from the Diploma in Info-Communications won a Merit Award with their new idea entitled "Foreign Worker Authentication System". It is a system that can be used for registering and verifying the authenticity and legality of foreign workers when they seek accommodation in Singapore.
A foreign worker's particulars, including his fingerprint, are first captured in the database when he registers for a work permit. The data is then stored in a chip that is embedded in the worker's blue NRIC or Work Permit card. Using a software and fingerprint scanner, homeowners or property agents can easily counter check and verify a worker's data and fingerprint.
