With the advent of exciting new commercial aircraft like the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, there is growing demand for more diverse and challenging aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services. This integrated training package comes at an opportune time in the growth of the aviation sector, as TP is currently working closely with LTT and CAAS to enable its students to obtain the necessary credits for the new SAR-66 aircraft maintenance engineer licence issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) during their 3-year course in TP. LTT’s qualified instructors will be conducting the training for the 1st and 2nd batches of students undergoing the specialised aerospace training course.
The worldwide aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul business is worth US$40.8 billion and is growing at about 3.6% a year. In Singapore, the aerospace industry posted a record $6.3 billion in output last year, a 20% increase over 2005, and this is expected to double to $12.6 billion by the year 2018. The sector’s manpower needs are projected to expand to about 37,000 professionals in the next 10 years.
