Here are some stories of awards received by staff, for innovation and excellence in teaching and learning....
| 1. | Educational Innovation Award (EIA) 2009 -- “Engaging and contextualising learning for Year 1 Engineering students” | |
| This TP award was given to the team for the development of show-n-tell lab models for teaching Year 1 Engineering Students. The team had felt that students could grasp concepts better if there were some physical objects to capture their attention and sustain their interest. The models included: a digital up/down counter board, intruder alarm sensor board, microphone transistor amplifier kit and the Integrated Lab Model. The integrated lab comprises of several standalone units, each unit can be used to teach a concept. But when all the units are put together, it shows the students how knowledge gained from the different year 1 subjects can be used to build a complete "Rain-detection, Sliding Window and Environment Control System". | ||

| 2. | Educational Innovation Award (EIA) 2011: “Challenging High Achieving Students in Science & Engineering” | |
| This is our second award for the Educational Innovation. For this project, the team had revamped the structure and content of 2 special electives subjects, Higher Engineering Skills 1 and Higher Engineering Skills 2. In the 2 subjects, students would learn more than what could be covered in the normal curriculum. Some of the topics covered include: Infra-Red, Ultrasound and Radio-Frequency transmission. Students also get to play with various types of sensors, motors, data encoders/decoders and control circuits. Towards the end of each module, through a fun project , students get a chance to put their knowledge gained to practice. |
Among many other interesting electronic devices, students learnt about::
