Chan Kim Kai

Course Manager

Chan Kim Kai is the Course Manager for the Integrated Facility Design & Management course. He is also the Course Manager for two other courses; Intelligent Building Technology and Aviation Management & Services.

Kim Kai obtained his Masters of Science in Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University in USA under a scholarship programme. His Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering was from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in USA where he obtained the Rose-Hulman Scholarship. His name is on the Marquis list of Who’s Who in the World as well as the Marquis list of Who’s Who in Science and Technology.

Kim Kai sits on many Engineering committees. He is a Council and Executive Committee Member of the Asian Institute of Intelligent Buildings Singapore Chapter, and also chairs its Technical Committee.Besides these positions, he is also a member of the R&D Workgroup of the National Climate Change Committee, and a long-time member of the National Honorary Mechanical Engineering Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He has spoken at a number of conferences and published a number of papers.

Kim Kai enjoys a variety of food and has fun whipping up something in the kitchen every now and then. He absolutely loves movies too.

Au Kian Seng

Course Co-ordinator

Au  Kian Seng has always wanted to be an engineer. To him, engineering is creative and innovative in nature. Kian Seng graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as a Mechanical Engineer and went on to obtain a Master of Science specializing in Engineering Economics from the National University of Singapore.

Kian Seng is passionate about teaching. He believes that education is one of the best ways of opening up one’s mind, and has been with TP for more than 11 years. Prior to joining TP, Kian Seng was a Defence Engineer with the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), MINDEF.

Kian Seng is a member of the Facility Management Technical Committee, Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES). He believes that effective facility management brings people, places and processes together.To him, aligning facilities with corporate goals benefits businesses, the environment, and most importantly, people, who are an organization’s greatest resource.

Kian Seng’s goals in life are to have a balanced life style, good health, and to spend as much time as possible with his family. He also believes in always being forgiving.

Mr Ong Thiam Huat

Section Head

Ong Thiam Huat is the Section-cum-Competency Unit Head for the Facility Design & Management Course.

He had more than 25 years of experience holding various positions in both the public and private sector organizations prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic in 2006. Among the notable positions he had held were Director of Construction Industry Development Board (now part of Building Construction Authority) & General Manager of Indeco Engineers Private Ltd.

Thiam Huat has extensive experience in facility management for a wide variety of facilities: health care, aviation, institutional, residential, commercial and industry. Among the clients he had worked with were major hospitals, CAAS, SIA, NUS, MINDEF, 3-COM, Centrepoint Properties and His Majesty Sultan’s Flight (Brunei).

He was a member of the Technical Advisory Committee involved in drafting the Ministry of the Environment ‘Guidelines for Good Indoor Air Quality in Office Premises’ which was published in October 1996.

His main interest is in energy management and aim to develop useful tools for better management and usage of energy. An active outdoor person, he believes in keeping fit to stay healthy and mentally alert.

Wong Choong Yen, Raymond

Lecturer

Raymond hails from a family of lecturers and teachers. He is a firm believer of building lives through education and joining the polytechnic opened doors for him to do just that for the past 10 years. He enjoys imparting knowledge & life skills to students, and always looks for opportunities to bring life to education. He likes to surprise his students by inviting VIP guests from the industry to stir-up interest & to expose them to the latest developments in the fields of Facility Management (FM) and Hospitality & Tourism industry.

He graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor in Building Construction Management. Prior to joining TP, he was a project engineer overseeing the development of residential, shopping malls and museum. He specializes in Real Estate Business, Resort Development, Project Management and Facility Management. Since joining TP, he has developed numerous subjects for diploma in IBT and FDM.

Apart from teaching, he is active in school recruitment & outreach programs to promote FM education, and in providing further education counseling to graduates and students alike. His goal is to transform this diploma program into a renowned FM program in Asia.”

Boey Lai Yin

Lecturer

Boey Lai Yin graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University, and obtained a Master of Engineering (Electrical Power) from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

She worked as a consultant engineer before joining Temasek Polytechnic. Her previous projects include residential condominiums, commercial offices cum warehouses, hotels and an overseas hotel resort. She is passionate about 3D CAD modelling and animation, which allows one to visualize a virtual project before the actual construction.

Proficient in the latest 3D CAD modelling software in the industry, Lai Yin hopes to pass on her knowledge and skills to as many students as she can.

Wiliana Sulistio

Lecturer

Wiliana graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2000 with a Master of Science in Building Science and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Tarumanagara University, Jakarta. She also holds a Teaching in Higher Education Certificate from the Staff and Educational Development Association (UK-TP).

Prior to joining Temasek Polytechnic, she was with a Jakarta based- architecture consultant and was a part time lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at Tarumanagara University, Jakarta. Passionate about teaching and engaging young minds, Wiliana switched from part time to full time teaching.

Besides lecturing, Wiliana is also involved in the Intelligent Building competency unit, and her areas of interest include Computer Aided Design, Building Visualization and Performance Simulation, Human-Centred Design, and Energy-Efficient Architecture.

Cheng Ming Chin

Lecturer

Ming Chin graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and Master of Engineering. He holds Project Management Professional (PMP) certification awarded by Project Management Instituite (PMI) as well as a Pedagogic Certificate in Technical Education.

He worked in NUS as a researcher in the field of ventilation design and simulations for buildings and facilities.  Subsequently he joined the industry and worked in the area of testing and evaluation of building products and building performance as well as building services design and management.

Ming Chin’s passion lies in the field of Computational Fluid Mechanics, Air-Conditioning & Distribution, Project Management and Computed Aided Design.
