The 3 Competency Units have collaborated with different industry partners to provide meaningful projects for students to work on in their final year. | In collaboration with NIE/LSL & 6 primary schools, this project aims to facilitate primary school student’s learning of the 3Rs - Recycling, Reducing, and Reusing. Using a Pocket PC application at a supermarket, students can take photos of products, compare product packaging, observe shopping bag use, and survey customers’ shopping habits. Subsequently they can compile a HTML report and upload it wirelessly to an online web portal. Within the portal students and teachers can comment on reports and post questions to National Environment Agency experts. |
| Competency Units & Industry Collaborations |
Internet Technology Competency Unit (ITCU), Info-Communications Competency Unit (IFCCU) and Mobile Computing Competency Unit (MCCU) are three technology competency units in School of Engineering under the Info-Communications course. The core technologies of focus are Enterprise Web Services, Network Technologies, Mobile Applications and Game Development.The objective of the competency units is to proliferate and develop these technologies for research and development, training and industry collaborations. The CUs have been actively involved in numerous industrial projects as well as CFCs such as Connecting the Community CFC, Healthcare CFC (2004) and FutureSchool CFC. Our industrial partners include Philips Electronics (S) Pte Ltd, National Institute of Education, Information Technology Standards Committee (ITSC), etc. |
