About Our Course (JAE Code: T06)

The Mechatronics and Aerospace Engineering is a common entry point for the

It is designed for students who are keen to pursue an engineering career with mechanical applications, but want to keep their options open to be flexible in mechatronics or focus in aerospace engineering. However students who have decided on the course they like and are able to meet the cut-off points are advised to apply directly to it.

Mechanical engineering is an area of engineering that applies the principles of physics and material science in the analysis, design and construction of machines, systems and processes we see around us.

Background

Mechatronics is the synergy when combining mechanical engineering with electronics and control engineering. This is a modern field of engineering that became the building block of many intelligent automation systems we see and use everyday. The flexibility of mechatronics enables it to be used in a wide range of applications such as aircrafts, cars, computers, robots and even toys.

Aerospace Engineering is the result of combining mechanical engineering with materials science, thermal and fluid mechanics, a field that focuses in the design, construction, maintenance and repair of commercial and military aircrafts. This exciting and highly demanding area integrates aerodynamics, propulsion, materials and avionics to realize man’s dream of flight and made air travel safe for everyone.

Streaming Process

All students in this programme will go through a common first semester of foundational engineering theories and practical skills training to discover their inclinations and abilities.

Students with excellent first semester result will be eligible to transfer to the Diploma in Aerospace Engineering, subject to vacancy limits. However the Diploma in Mechatronics will continue to offer the Aerospace Systems Elective Cluster to students who are keen to work in this industry.

In whichever area they choose, both diplomas offer graduates excellent opportunities in career and further studies in engineering.

Business Management @ Engineering

Get a Business perspective with your Engineering diploma, and go further in your career!

Engineering students will be able to choose from a series of Business Management subjects while pursuing their engineering diploma, and be trained in marketing, project management, and business fundamentals. In today’s pro-business environment, these are skills that will certainly give our engineering graduates a strong head-start in their careers! With the combined know-how of engineering and business management, students can expect more exciting opportunities for their career and further education.

TP Scholarships

Newly enrolled students are eligible to apply for the Temasek Polytechnic Scholarship. This is a bond-free scholarship worth $2,500 per academic year and is awarded to GCE O Level students with outstanding academic results, CCA records and leadership qualities. In addition, recipients can participate in the Student Leadership Programme (SLP) in overseas and talent development programmes.

SMa Scholarship

This Singapore Manufacturer’s Association (SMa) Scholarship is a bond-free scholarship worth $2,000 per academic year. It is offered to students who have performed well in their first year in TP, and had chosen to pursue one of the following 4 courses: Electronics, Mechatronics, Microelectronics or Clean Energy. Recipients can also choose to be attached to SMa for a period of 4 to 6 months as their interns in their final year.

Overseas Experience

Students in this programme will be given the opportunity to go for the Overseas Internship Attachments, Oversea Study Trips and Oversea Community Projects, to open up the world around them, and give them a global mindset for the future. Countries where students normally go to includes: Germany, France, USA, Japan, China, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, etc.

Further Studies

Each diploma courses are well established and they receive advance standings and modular from both our local and oversea universities.

How To Apply

Please go to Temasek Polytechnic Admission Office to apply with the following JAE codes:

T06: This is a common JAE code for the 2 diplomas - Diploma in Mechatronics and Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (April Intake Only).
