1 Silver and 1 Diploma of Excellence
TP represented by 4 students from Diploma in Mechatronics, won 1 silver and 1 Diploma of Excellence in the Mechatronics category of biennial WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) competition held from 1 ~ 3 July 2004.
The competition requires participants to assemble and program factory automation system comprising mechanical, electronic, electrical, and pneumatic equipment based on diagrams and instructions provided, as quickly and accurately as possible.
This year’s competition attracted a record 310 participants from secondary schools, junior colleges, tertiary institutions and companies in the industry. Mr Law Song Seng, Director and CEO of the Institute of Technical Education, said: "It is this spirit of keen competition that we want to foster and perpetuate in our training institutions and the workplace, so that our people will be better prepared for the challenges of a global economy".
These four Mechatronics students have gone through a series of training provided by MDC-CU. The scope of training includes the assembly, wiring, programming of PLC and trouble shooting.
