| Purpose: | This workshop provides the facilities to all students to work on their projects. |
| Lab opening hours: | Monday to Thursday 0900hr to 1800hr Friday 0900hr to 1730hr |
In the event of closure due to maintenance or emergency reasons, notice will be pasted outside the lab to keep students informed, at the earliest possible time.
Rules and Regulation for using the workshop:
Students are:
- ·Remove all rings, watches & bracelets.
- ·Wear proper shoes.
- ·Long hair should be neatly tied & bundled up, or wearing of cap.
- ·Skirts, Bermudas, three-quarter pants, scarf & sleeveless top are not allowed.
- ·Loose clothing is to be neatly tucked-in, or wearing of dust coat.
- ·Wear safety goggles / safety glasses at all times while working on machines.
- ·Carry out instructions properly & report any unsafe conditions.
- ·Use correct tools and equipment.
- ·Keep workplace clean & tidy at all times.
- ·Have all injuries, however slight, properly attended to.
- ·Do not try to operate a machine unless its operation is fully understood.
- ·Stop machine completely, before making any measurement or adjustment.
- ·Never attempt to stop any rotating spindle of any machine with your hands.
- ·Do not allow any machine to run unattended.
- ·Only one student is allowed to operate a machine at any one time.
- ·Do not horseplay or distract others.
- ·Use only those tools you are authorized to use.
- ·Don’t leave tools on the floor, or where they can fall on people.
- ·Approach duty staff when handling hazardous chemical substances.
- ·Always ensure that hazardous substances are handled using proper equipment.
- ·No using of mobile phone in the workshop.
- ·Obey all safety rules & signs.
If in doubt, seek help from your lecturer or the duty staff.
